The Inspiration
Love In Ta-Meri
The ancient Egyptians called their country by the name of Ta-Meri, which translates to “The Beloved Land”. Love and romance were held in high esteem in ancient Egyptian society, as evidenced by artistic representations in ancient tombs that frequently depict couples as being locked in tender embraces. The myth surrounding Isis, the queen of the gods, tells of her unwavering determination to resurrect her beloved husband Osiris, who had been slain by his wicked brother Seth. Other deities, such as Hathor, were associated with mortal love and romance. The Egyptians were masters of the art of love poetry, with surviving examples considered to be amongst the most sensual and erotic expressions of the ancient world. The ancient fusion of musk and myrrh is utterly reborn in this fragrance, as timeless as love itself.
“The wisdom of the earth in a kiss,
and everything else in your eyes.”
– Love poetry discovered at Deir el-Medina, Egypt, dated to the New Kingdom period (1539-1075BCE).
